  my parents were always of the belief that, "the end is right around the corner".. i was a zealous kid, with a learning disorder, so my parents never gave me a hard time or pushed me in regards to my education.. this not only hurt me, but, pissed me off insanely.

  fast forward to me having my own kid.

  ava is not doing well in school.

  Cognac - my humble opinion is that it is impossible for you to fail your daughter.

  Agree with Sabin. Eye and ear test. My son didn't actually speak until he was 5 because apparently "he just didn't want to". The best thing about having all those tests done was that it proved my son wasn't incapable. He baffled 'them' all and now he's a successful career man in the visual digi arts. Another good thing for the testing was I didn't feel like I had failed him somehow as a parent.

  Don't give yourself a hard time. Who knows what amazing, gifted talent your Ava has that she hasn't exhibited yet. Go with the flow and if you sense stifling, back off. Not everyone needs academia to make a success of life :)

  Oh my. Some people on this forum need to lighten up. You read the title. If the word 'penis' offends or disturbs you and you call on Jehovah before grabbing your insight book to look up the definition of pornea.... perhaps it was a bad idea to click in the first place.

  How is it that my post is flagged for mentioning the abbrev. 'clitorus', which by the way is a quote from the video hence appears in quote marks, yet it is ok to say 'penis'? Or were you offended because I used both? Laughed?? Jeez. That is sexism people. Sexism on an exjw forum. Why am I not surprised! !!?

  Are The Governing Body Anointed?

  for any lurkers, i just want to put a thought out there for you.

  like me maybe during your life as a jw the "thing" that causes someone to know if they are anointed was always a bit of mystery, except to those who claimed they knew.

  i had heard it explained to me many ways, and like many things i just said "ok, well thats an answer... i guess".

  Most of the anointed I knew were single. 'cept this one arrogant elder who had a wife and family. I couldn't understand why they were all good with him being 1000 years away from them. Surely they would miss him even though the rest of us wouldn't? ! I would have said thanks but no thanks Jehoober, I choose paradise on earth with my family where I can continue to laud it over everyone. Now that's the other thing. I was told it was a 1000 yr secondment - that's right, that he would return to his fleshly human self after that coz with Satan gone there would be no need for all those joint heirs with Christ.

  been reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.

  i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.

  i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

  i have been here for a few years and i can count on one hand from posters who made the statement, i can't take it anymore, i'm going back.. what is it that members here have given up their family and friends to be free.

  is it so we can have sinful fun, we are our own person and no one will tell us what to do?.

  Oh yes Simon, association with ex jws during your transition helps to avoid the long explanations alright! And really, having been that person who has made the long explanations to my not in partner, it's tiresome but also embarrassing! You end up hearing the absurdity of that 'stuff' that was once upon a time your life and future compass! (Shame!!) But then the comfort that comes with the realization that you did the right thing lets you get on with it!

  I don't read this as passing judgement, I read it as a frank question so have a slightly different response.

  What was it for me? That I filled my life with other things (higher education), was living with a non-believer and those JWs who knew me thought I was spiritually weak anyway so quickly drifted away from me before I ever left and as a result they never kept me guilt tripped in. As part of my higher education, I moved towns. Never knew TTATT. Now my life does not exist in the WT sense so I would never consider going back - with or without TTATT.

  Agree the support received in this forum is great but it's no comparison to the face to face relationships that humans thrive on (whether positively charged or negatively charged). Once you are out and have that hardened affirmation (that your choice was the right one for you to make at the time), seeing these fabulous forums is refreshingly supportive. But I dare say when you are in it, it's unknown territory! That fear factor like Simon suggests can be debilitating!
